About Texas Star

Texas Star is one of several improved mayhaw cultivars developed in the late 20th century. The extension service rates it as promising but not yet extensively tested, with early to mid March bloom and early to mid May ripening. It tolerates a wide variety of moisture, drainage, and light conditions and is used fresh or processed into jellies, syrups, and preserves.
