About Elliot
The original Elliot pecan tree was a seedling found in the early 1900s in the lawn of American lumberman Henry Elliot in Milton, Florida. It is widely planted in the Southeast, mostly for its delicious edible nuts and its resistance to scab. It has an extremely high quality, small, teardrop-shaped nut, bears alternately but with high nut quality in on years. In Georgia trials it averaged 77 nuts per pound with 51 percent kernel, a scab rating of 1, an average harvest date of October 12, and an alternate bearing index of 0.68.
